Why Local Businesses Should Run Ads On Facebook

Let’s talk about Facebook ads!

All of our clients run ads on Facebook, because I believe that in order to be successful in business you have to be in front of the right people, the people who actually use your products or services. A lot of business owners may be scared away or intimidated by Facebook ads 

because they hear “You have to pay to play.”  Well, that’s really just business—you have to pay to send a mailer, you have to pay to attend a networking event; basically you have to pay to market your business, and Facebook is no different. 

But the beauty of marketing on Facebook and with Facebook ads is that you can target not only locations but also interests. Let’s take a direct mail campaign, for example. (And I want to make sure that we’re on the same page, because I’m not talking down about direct mail campaigns. I actually recommend that everyone do a direct mail campaign because you never know!)

Imagine if you could stop the person who’s going to be delivering your direct mail piece and say, “Hey, could you just go inside and make sure that they have two children? Could you go make sure that they’re interested in my exact services?”

Target your exact audience

It would be so powerful to have a direct mail service like that! And that’s what Facebook allows you to do! You can target age, gender of a person, specific interests, even where someone works!

For instance we have a client who is a realtor, so for them we’re using Facebook to target people who work for Toyota and Liberty Mutual, people who are going to be moving here to Plano. That way when they’re looking for a new home they’re already introduced to a realtor in the area. 

Here’s another example: Another of our clients is a roofing company, and so for them we target homeowners. Why is this important? Well, if you’re a renter and you get an ad for a roofing company, you couldn’t care less. Your landlord is going to be taking care of any roofing issues, so you don’t need to bother. But if you’re the homeowner it’s good to be following a roofer who can service your needs when you have a hailstorm or a leak! 

This kind of targeting can be a very powerful tool in order to get the right people to “like” your page. This is not buying likes, and this is not link farms; this is generating organic, living people that are actually interested in what you do.
